Why We Exist

To realize gender just climate change mitigation, adaptation and resilience.

Who We Are?

Welcome to KKONA Women Sustainable Agriculturists and Environmental Group! At KKONA, we are passionate about empowering women and protecting our environment through sustainable agriculture practices.

Through our programs and initiatives, we aim to uplift the lives of women in rural communities by providing them with the tools, knowledge, and resources they need to succeed as agriculturists. We believe that by investing in women, we can create thriving communities and promote economic empowerment.

In addition to supporting women in agriculture, we are committed to environmental conservation. We advocate for sustainable farming methods that promote soil health, conserve water resources, and protect biodiversity. By working hand in hand with nature, we strive to create a more resilient and sustainable food system for future generations.

Join us in our mission to empower women, protect the environment, and build a brighter future for all. Together, we can make a meaningful impact and create positive change in our communities.

As we continue our journey beyond 2024, our mission remains unchanged: to empower women, protect the environment, and contribute to a brighter future for all. Join us in making a meaningful impact and creating positive change in our communities. Together, we can make a difference. Thank you for your support and dedication to our shared goals.

Our work

We are a registered Community Based Organization with the main aim of uplifting the livelihoods of women and protecting the environment through agribusiness, environmentalism and gender justice.

Globally Climate change and poverty are the order of the day. Almost every country especially in the global south, has tested this crisis but there’s that group of people who are most affected by these two problems; the women, when climate crisis comes, they’re hit the more, when poverty strikes, they’re hit most.

This and many more injustices prompted the founding of Kkona Women Sustainable Agriculturists and Environmental Group by a Nalubega Dorothy, a Ugandan Climate Feminist campaigner, environmentalist and vulnerable groups rights activist to work together with the women residents of Kkona village and beyond in the fight against climate crisis and poverty.

The traditional gender roles of women in Uganda are often considered subordinate to those of men. However, women in Uganda have substantial economic and social responsibilities throughout Uganda's many traditional societies. Ugandan women come from a range of economic and educational backgrounds. Despite economic and social change throughout the country, domestic violence and sexual assault remain prevalent issues in Uganda.
